Start your first book
- Open HisaabNama and create a local book with its name and currency.
- Choose Add person. Type their name or select a contact, then review the details before saving.
- Use I gave or I received in their ledger. Review the amount and details, then save.
You can create separate books and switch from the book name at the top of the app.
Make a recovery copy
- Open More → Backup & data → Backup & restore.
- Set a recovery password and keep a private copy outside your phone.
- Save an encrypted backup file, or connect your Google account for optional Drive backup.
Check the latest successful backup before relying on it. Automatic backup runs when connectivity and battery conditions allow.
Export PDF, CSV or XLSX
- Open Reports and choose the report view, people and filters you need. For one person, open Report from their ledger.
- Choose Preview to inspect the PDF, or Export or Share to choose a file format.
- Select PDF, CSV or XLSX and choose a destination through Android.
These exports contain readable financial information. Share them only with the people or apps you choose.
A few common questions
Do I need a Google account?
No. You create local books without a server account. Connecting Google authorizes your existing account only for optional Drive backup.
Can you reset my recovery password?
We cannot reset a password for an existing encrypted backup or decrypt it for you. Keep the password and a usable recovery copy somewhere private.
Why has an automatic backup not run yet?
Android schedules background work when conditions allow. Check connectivity, battery restrictions and the backup status in the app. You can choose Back up now when you need a current copy.
Does recurring entry review move money automatically?
No. Review a due recurring entry and explicitly save it before it becomes a transaction.
Does the app connect to my bank or make payments?
Bank accounts are manual bookkeeping records. Recording a transfer or payment in HisaabNama does not move money through a bank or payment service.
Remove your records
Android Settings → Apps → HisaabNama → Storage → Clear storage removes local books, settings, key records and recovery copies. Uninstalling does the same. Verify an external encrypted backup first if you want to keep your records.
Drive backups and externally exported or shared files remain at their destinations. Delete them separately. Disconnecting Google stops backup and revokes access; it does not delete existing Drive files.
